I keep seeing stories on the web and on social media about this POLAD outfit but for the life of me I can’t understand why people are awarding that bunch of chancers all this attention. So I thought I should put my two cents on the whole saga. POLAD include people like Madhuku and Khupe and a smattering of other political minions. All of them had a total of less than 3% of the presidential vote in 2018 and almost half of that went to Khupe. Obviously, there is a symbiotic relationship going on between that lot and Mnangagwa, a bit like oxpeckers and the gigantic elephant of the Savannah. Indeed, POLAD are the oxpeckers eating off the arthropoda that is infested on the big elephant’s massive arse. Mnangagwa is obviously using them to give the false impression to the West that he is a benign dictator willing to talk to political opponents. The POLAD lot on the other hand are enjoying the attention and the hot dinners they receive when they go to meet, the scarf wearer. Their supporters couldn’t fill up a council beerhall. But it’s not just the à la carte POLAD are after, they are also angling to get a farm each, vehicles and various per diems that come with licking Zanu’s backside. But never forget that the interests of the long suffering Zimbabwean public will never be considered whenever these people coalesce together. They would rather have a discussion about Phil Jones’ errors in the Man United defence.
The idea that Zanu pf would voluntarily hold dialogue with another political party for the good of Zimbabwe is for the birds and folk need to stop trying to draw milk from this dry tit. Here is a little truth that people really need to be reminded of: Zanu hold misanthropic disdain towards the public particularly those who want an end to corruption and military dictatorship. Some people will retort and bring up the GNU where ZANU held dialogue with the MDC. Yes, they did, but they didn’t volunteer to have those talks, they were forced by the South African who are the regional hegemony and one of their two financial backers, the other being China. Some people will reference Thabo Mbeki’s recent visit and make other optimistic suppositions about talks happening again. But my own retort is that Thabo Mbeki in 2019 has less influence than he had in 2008. It’s not clear who he was representing when he came over few weeks ago but Zanu is probably the only group he could represent outside the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, so go figure.
Now, many people are pouring scorn on POLAD and their debased politics of cuckoldry, and rightfully so. But I won’t forget that some of the so called political analysts who are leading the charge on heaping opprobrium on POLAD, 2 years ago were circling around Zanu with the hope of being summoned for a job or a farm. Yes, right now we may be singing from the same hymn sheet with but we are praying to a different deity. Let it be known that POLAD are not the enemy, they are political cuckolds who don’t mind the humiliation so long as they get a peak into the tent. We should simply ignore them and focus on the elephant in the room.
