The National Service Programme tabulated by Kirsty Coventry, the Zimbabwe Minister of Youth, has finally been approved by the Zanupf majority in the Parliament of Zimbabwe.
This is not the first time for Zimbabwe parliament to promulgate such a programme which brings back memories of the notorious Green Bombers during the early 2000s. Today there are wider concerns that Zanupf is already preparing itself for yet another bloody campaign during the 2023 general elections.
Fears of another bloody election campaign will not come as mere speculation as Zanupf have used militias created by this type of programme to terrorise the population into voting for the ruling party.Hundreds of MDCA supporters were butchered and substantial numbers of properties were burnt or destroyed. This is a pure ZanuPf and not a National arrangement where young people get indoctrinated in Zanupf ideologies.
We wish to send a loud and clear warning to the illegal regime in Harare. Zimbabweans are already hardly pressed by the harsh economic situation and don’t have any more room for nonsense on their plate. Zanupf should be busy implementing reforms that are critical for a free and fair general elections rather than prepare to steal another illegal term in office.
As MDCA, we shout loud and clear:
#ZANUPF MUST GO NOW.
#NO TO GREEN BOMBERS&, VIOLENCE.
#FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISIONERS.
